Dragon Star PHP RPG Engine - MMORPG
Yet another MMORPG? Why? Because I like the 'old school' feel of the old RPGs, and I want to share that experience on a much larger scale than any other RPG I've played.
While this is my final destination, I still have a long way to go.
- The multiplayer version may not be able to avoid using a real client. If not, hey, I tried.
- This game is looking to be more detailed than the single player or combat-only versions.
- A single player may control a team of 1 to 4 (or 5) characters.
- Experience earned will be determined by the effect a characters actions had on the course of combat. You may even be awarded experience if your party is wiped out!
- Spells and Skills must be learned by attending school, and will take time. The skills and spells available will depend either on the characters level or intelligence (I haven't decided), jobs, race, and other skills and spells learned. If a solider has learned a basic fire spell, he may then learn the Fire Slash skill!
- The character needs to practice a skill or spell by using it in order to gain proficiency after studying at a school. After the character becomes proficient, new spells and skills become available for the student to learn!
- A character's stats will not receive an instant boost upon acheiving a level. Instead, a characters stats will gradually increase as experience is earned.
- A character may have multiple jobs. The character may also gain experience in learning these jobs simultaneously with a minor cross-training penalty.
- Besides support for multiplayer parties, teams may setup lists of friends and enemies. If two parties meet up and have spilt blood between them, watch out!
- There will be multi-party combat. If it proves to be feasable (and fun), multiple monster parties and PC parties may duke it out in a combat of massive proportions (100+ characters).
- I am looking at making a dynamic world. The land masses will stay the same, but kingdoms will rise an fall, towns will have real economies, and enemies will come and go. You can help protect the populous of kill off an entire kingdom's king and nobles! Based on the premise of Electronic Art's Adventure Construction Set, this game will (hopefully) generate quests for players to compete against in order to accomplish. When one quest is completed it is gone, and another quest will be created to take it's place. No one will ever play the exact same game twice!
I know this is an ambitious project. I hope that you stick with me to the end of it!
